Morgère, the leading French trawl door manufacturer, is moving from its historic base in Saint Malo to a new purpose-built manufacturing facility in Miniac-Morven, which is about 20km away.

After more than 100 years based at the port of Saint Malo, the new and larger 2,500m² manufacturing unit in Miniac-Morvan is currently under construction and is expected to become fully operational this August.

The three million Euros investment in the new Miniac-Morvan facility will enable Morgère to modernise its production, with the latest manufacturing machinery, as well as enhance storage and provide more efficient handling.

Founded in 1902 during the heyday of the Newfoundland Grand Banks cod fishery, Morgère has since forged a strong reputation for the quality and high performance of its trawl door range. Innovation and new product development are at the heart of the Morgère operation, and the new state-of-the-art production facility will provide the company with a platform for new growth.

Pascal Reverseau, the new chief operating officer for Morgère, said that despite the current challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic and Brexit, the company was optimistic for the future, and will look to diversify into other sectors, including ship repair.
