Leading trawl door manufacturer Morgère will be on stand 30 at Skipper Expo Int. Bournemouth 2014, where they will be promoting their V3, PV3 and PV3L types of trawl door designed for bottom trawling.

These doors are ideal for the English and Welsh fishing industries as they come in a variety of sizes, making them suitable for a wide range of different vessel classes, from small inshore to those working in more offshore areas.

Of particular note is Morgère’s home base in St Malo, Brittany, where they have huge experience and knowledge in developing trawl doors that are perfectly suited for fisheries in the English Channel.

On the Morgère stand, one V3 door and one PV3 door will be on display, enabling fishermen to see at first hand the special design features that ensures the optimum spread of trawl gear. Also being promoted will be the PV3L door, which is a relatively new design that is already being widely praised by fishermen for its effective catching performance. It is an adaptation of the highly successful PV3 Door, which is already widely used by fishermen and whose design has evolved over the years based on the company’s extensive research and development programme.

The PV3L has a lower centre of gravity than the PV3 enabling it fish closer to the bottom, making it ideal for catching groundfish and prawns. The design provides excellent stability and constant distance between the wings on either side of the trawl, whilst the louvers on the front of the doors deliver an optimum angle of attack.

Michel Dagorn of Morgère said: “Our range of trawl doors are especially suited for fisheries around the English and Welsh coasts and we are really looking forward to meeting with fishermen at the expo to discuss their requirements and provide advice.”
