Morgére to unveil innovative new Osprey semi-pelagic trawl door at the Icelandic Fisheries Exhibition 2017

Thursday, 07 September 2017

Morgére will be revealing for the first time its innovative new ‘Osprey’ semi-pelagic trawl door system at the Icelandic Fisheries Exhibition 2017 (13 – 15 September).

The company will also be promoting its Exocet trawl door system, which is already being successfully used by a number of Icelandic fishing vessels.

The new Osprey trawl door, which fishes on and just off the seabed, has been rigorously tested in working sea trials with excellent results. A key feature of the door is its ability to reduce fuel consumption compared with traditional bottom doors.

Since the launch of the Exocet trawl door in 2015, there has been much interest in the system from Icelandic skippers, with around 15 sets having already being sold.

Exocet doors are ideally suited for the demanding fishing conditions found in Icelandic waters. Icelandic skippers have been particularly attracted by the robustness and stability offered by the powerful Exocet door, combined with the reduced drag that benefits fuel consumption.  A key feature is the lower angle of attack compared with a standard door while maintaining the same spread.

Michel Dagorn and François Charrayre of Morgére will be present with their Icelandic agent Isfell on stand D20 E9 at the Icelandic Fisheries Exhibition (stand D20 E9) where they will be delighted to meet with skippers so as to explain in more detail the considerable fishing benefits offered by the Exocet and Osprey doors.

François Charrayre said: “Fishermen from many countries visit the Icelandic Fisheries Exhibition and we are looking forward to meeting with them so as to highlight the excellent bottom and semi-pelagic fishing solutions that we have developed.”
